Steve’s 30-year communication career includes nearly nine years of service at UPS and 16 years with The Home Depot, where he most recently served as the company’s Chief Communication Officer.  

In addition to leading all internal and external communication, Steve was responsible for an events management team and The Home Depot Foundation. 

Steve worked closely with five CEOs during his time at UPS and Home Depot and was best known for his deep background in reputation and crisis management. 

After retiring from The Home Depot in 2023, Steve established Holmes Communication & External Affairs Advisory, and now lives full-time at Seagrove Beach, Florida. He’s originally from Gulfport, Mississippi, earned his bachelor’s degree from Mississippi College and went to graduate school for Journalism at Ole Miss.
